📡 Stream Modes
Every event on VibesNearby Live has one of three stream modes. You choose it when creating the event and it determines how the video player behaves for fans during the show.
Mode 1 — Single Stream 🎥
One stream URL, one player. The whole night runs through a single broadcast source — one camera covering all artists in sequence. The lineup is informational (shows fans who's on the bill and when) but the stream itself never changes.
Best for: Bar nights, club shows, events with one camera or one broadcast setup. Simple and reliable.
Mode 2 — Artist Queue ⏭
Each artist in the lineup has their own stream URL. The platform automatically switches to each artist's stream at their scheduled set time — no manual intervention needed. Fans see one seamless player that silently swaps sources.
- A "Now Playing" bar shows above the player with the current artist's name
- A countdown bar shows time remaining in the current set
- The player polls for updates every 30 seconds
- If an artist's slot starts and their stream isn't live after 10 minutes — no-show detected — the fallback activates automatically
Best for: Multi-artist virtual showcases where each performer broadcasts from their own location. Each artist sets up their own YouTube Live or Twitch channel.
⚠️ Each artist must set their stream URL before their slot. They do this from the event page (the stream URL input appears next to their lineup slot if they're logged in as the event organizer). Or you can enter it for them from your dashboard.
Mode 3 — Multi-Stage 🎭
Multiple simultaneous streams running at the same time — like a festival with two stages. Fans see stage tabs at the top of the player and choose which stage to watch. Each stage runs independently.
- You assign each lineup artist to a stage (Main Stage, Side Stage, Acoustic Room, etc.)
- Each stage has its own stream URL and its own artist schedule
- Fans switch between stages freely
Best for: Virtual festivals, dual-stage club nights, multi-room events where different things are happening simultaneously.
Fallback settings
All three modes support a fallback — what fans see if a stream goes offline or an artist no-shows.
- Holding screen — a branded message ("We'll be right back") with no video
- Fallback stream — a backup URL (pre-recorded set, radio station, playlist) plays instead
- Auto-advance — automatically moves to the next artist on the bill
Live controls during the show
If you're the event organizer and you're viewing the event page while it's live, a 🎛 Live Controls panel appears above the stream player. From there you can:
- Activate the fallback instantly with one click
- Manually switch to any artist on the bill
- Update each artist's stream URL in real time

💡 Tip: For Queue mode, do a stream test with each artist at least 30 minutes before the show. Have everyone start their stream and confirm their URL is working. The auto-switch is only as reliable as the streams themselves.
